Giving something back: Akome takes on local School work placement

July, 2008

Akome Energy Build was approached by workplacements.org to take on a student from Harris Academy, a local school in South London. Michael Omari from Harris Academy worked with the accounts team at Akome.

“We have found Michael Omari to be a pleasant, presentable and polite young man. His work and punctuality has been excellent” said Thomas Akomeah, Managing director of Akome Energy Build.

Michael was given an assignment to help determine and report the company's cash flow and profit & loss accounts over a period of time utilising Microsoft Excel spreadsheets (which he created and calculated himself). He then presented his findings to the board of directors in the form of a presentation.

Mr. Akomeah addressed the school during assembly with an inspiring speech about the challenges he faced whilst growing up in Islington, London and aspiring to have a career in engineering.

“It’s not easy to keep focused on what you want to achieve, especially when faced with certain peer pressures, but if you face up to your responsibilities you’ll find that this will form the foundations to your success later in life” said Thomas Akomeah who now runs his own energy consultancy designing green energy systems.
