Code for Sustainable Homes

The Code for Sustainable Homes (C4SH) came in to effect in May 2008 replacing the existing Eco Homes. C4SH is an environmental assessment aimed at measuring mandatory performance levels in seven key categories affecting the environment. These are:

Code for Sustainable Homes
  • Energy efficiency / CO2
  • Water efficiency
  • Surface water management
  • Site Waste Management
  • Household Waste Management
  • Use of Materials
  • Lifetime homes (applies to Code Level 6 only)

The Code has a scoring system of six levels. The different levels are made up by achieving both the appropriate mandatory minimum standards together with a proportion of the ‘flexible’ standards.

Akome Energy Build support developers and architects to achieve certification for both Design Stage and Post-Construction Reviews. Our assessors are also able to perform initial pre-assessments as guidance to compliance.
